Suggested Keywords

Looking for new keywords to target but not sure where to start? The Suggested Keywords report uses AI to surface keyword opportunities you might be missing — based on what's already working for apps similar to yours.

Here's how it works: the algorithm looks at keywords your app ranks well for, finds other apps that also rank well for those same keywords, then pulls in the other keywords those apps rank for and suggests them to you. The result is a curated list of up to 250 keyword suggestions per app/country/device combination that are relevant to your category and worth exploring.

Suggested Keywords works with both the Apple App Store and Google Play, so you can discover opportunities across both stores.

Available on: Optimize, Boost, Grow, and Explore plans. Upgrade →

Getting Started

To get to the report, go to Find Keywords → Suggested Keywords in the left sidebar.

The report requires one app selected. Here are the controls you'll use to set it up:

  • App — Select the app you want keyword suggestions for. The app must be tracked in your account. The "iOS" or "Google Play" tag next to the app name shows which store — it's just a label, not a toggle.
  • Country — Choose a country to get suggestions tailored to that market.
  • Device — Toggle between iPhone and iPad. Suggestions may differ between devices since search results vary.

Once configured, the report loads a table of AI-powered keyword suggestions based on your app's existing keyword profile.

Filters

Above the table, several filters let you narrow down the suggestions:

  • Type — Filter by tracking status. Options: Only keywords I don't track (keywords not in your tracked list — great for pure discovery) and Only keywords I track (keywords already in your tracked list).
  • Rank — Filter by position range. Presets: High (1–10), Medium (11–25), Low (≥ 25), or set a Custom range with the slider.
  • Popularity — Filter by popularity score range. Presets: Very High (85–100), High (60–84), Medium (20–59), Low (10–19), Very Low (0–9), or set a Custom range with the slider.
  • Competitiveness — Filter by competitiveness score range. Same presets as Popularity: Very High (85–100), High (60–84), Medium (20–59), Low (10–19), Very Low (0–9), or set a Custom range with the slider.

Use the search bar in the table header to filter keywords by name.

Translate

The Translate feature lets you translate all keywords in the table into any language. Pick a language from the searchable dropdown and every keyword in the table is translated instantly — useful when exploring suggestions in foreign markets.

Column Reference

The table is organized into three sections: Search Rank, Keyword Insights, and Search Results.

Search Rank

  • Keyword — The suggested keyword, shown with its country flag. Click any keyword to open a context menu with options: Organic search results (opens keyword in Keyword Inspector), Paid advertisers (opens Keyword Advertisers for that keyword), Related keywords (opens the Related Keywords report), and Copy to clipboard (copies the keyword text). A + button next to each keyword lets you quickly add it to your tracked list.
  • Position — Your app's current organic rank for this keyword, if it ranks at all.
  • Delta — How much your position has changed since the last update. A green up arrow means your rank improved (moved closer to #1), a red down arrow means it dropped.

Keyword Insights

  • Popularity — A score from 0 to 100 indicating how often users search for this keyword. Higher means more search volume. Displayed as a visual bar.
  • Competitiveness — A score from 1 to 100 showing how hard it would be to rank for this keyword. Higher means more competition. Also displayed as a visual bar.

Search Results

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 — App icons of the top 5 organically ranked apps for this keyword. This lets you quickly see who currently owns the top spots.
  • ... — Click "View →" to see the full search results for this keyword.
  • Total — The total number of apps that appear in search results for this keyword.

Actions

Track Keywords

There are two ways to track keywords from this report:

  • + button — Click the + icon next to any individual keyword to add it to your tracked list immediately for the selected app/country/device.
  • Track selected keywords — Select multiple keywords using the checkboxes on the left, then click Track selected keywords to add them all at once.

Keywords are tracked per account, not per app. Tracking a keyword once covers it across all your apps, countries, and devices — it only counts as one keyword toward your plan's tracked keyword limit.

Export

The Export button gives you several options:

  • Download Table — Download the full table as a CSV or JSON file.
  • Copy Keywords To Clipboard — Copy just the keywords, either with newlines (one per line) or commas (separated by commas).

Pagination

Control how many results appear per page: 10, 25 (default), 50, or 100.

What You Can Do With It

  • Discover keywords you haven't considered — The AI finds keywords that apps similar to yours rank for, surfacing terms you might never have thought to target.
  • Expand your keyword list quickly — Filter by "Only keywords I don't track," sort by Popularity, and add the best ones to your tracked list with one click.
  • Find low-competition opportunities — Use the Competitiveness filter to find high-popularity keywords with lower competition — the sweet spot for ASO gains.
  • Scout new markets — Change the Country filter and use Translate to explore keyword opportunities in markets you're considering expanding into.
  • Validate your strategy — Filter by "Only keywords I track" to see which of your current keywords also show up as suggestions — confirming you're on the right track.
  • Analyze the competition for each keyword — The Search Results columns show who currently ranks in the top 5, so you can assess whether a keyword is worth pursuing.

💡 Ariel's Top Tip

🔍 Set the Type filter to "Only keywords I don't track" and sort by Popularity (highest first). These are keywords the AI thinks are relevant to your app that you're not monitoring yet. Look for ones with high popularity but moderate competitiveness — those are your best opportunities. Add them to your tracked list and start optimizing!
