Related Keywords
Want to find keywords related to one you're already targeting? The Related Keywords report uses AI to surface keywords that are connected to any keyword you search for — across the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Here's how it works: the algorithm looks at apps that rank for the keyword you searched, finds other keywords those apps also rank for, and surfaces them as related suggestions. It's the same approach used by Suggested Keywords, but instead of starting with an app, you start with a keyword. The result is a dynamic list of related keywords that share relevance with your original search — no fixed limit, the number of results varies by keyword.
Getting Started
To get to the report, go to Find Keywords → Related Keywords in the left sidebar. This opens Keyword Inspector with the Related Keywords tab selected.
Here are the controls you'll use to set it up:
- Keyword — Enter any keyword you want to find related terms for.
- Store — Choose between App Store and Google Play (one at a time).
- Country — Choose a country to get results tailored to that market.
- Device — Toggle between iPhone and iPad (available when viewing iOS results).
Once configured, the report loads the Keyword Intelligence Panel at the top and a table of related keywords below.
Keyword Intelligence Panel
Above the tabs, three cards give you a quick snapshot of the keyword you searched for:
Insights — Shows two key scores: Popularity (0–100), which measures how often the keyword is searched for on the store, and Competitiveness (0–100), which measures how hard it would be to beat out the top results for that keyword.
Top 10 Performance (Last 30 Days) — Uncovers the numbers behind the top 10 organic results for this keyword. Includes Est. Downloads (total and average per app), DPR (Downloads Per Rating), Est. Revenue (total and average per app), Rankings (Best, Average, and Worst positions), and a Compare link to dig deeper.
Top Advertisers (App Store only) — Shows the top 6 apps that appear most often as the sponsored result for this keyword. Includes a View All link to see the full list.
Filters
Above the table, filters let you narrow down the related keywords:
- Popularity — Filter by popularity score. Presets: Very High (85–100), High (60–84), Medium (20–59), Low (10–19), Very Low (0–9), or set a Custom range with the slider.
- Competitiveness — Filter by competitiveness score. Same presets as Popularity: Very High (85–100), High (60–84), Medium (20–59), Low (10–19), Very Low (0–9), or set a Custom range with the slider.
Keyword Search
Use the search bar in the table header to filter keywords by name.
Translate
The Translate feature lets you translate all keywords in the table into any language. Pick a language from the searchable dropdown and every keyword in the table is translated instantly — useful when exploring keywords in foreign markets.
Column Reference
The table is organized into two sections: Keyword Insights and Search Results.
Keyword Insights
- Keyword — The related keyword, shown with its country flag. Click any keyword to open a context menu with options: Organic search results (opens the keyword in Keyword Inspector), Paid advertisers (opens Keyword Advertisers for that keyword), Related keywords (opens Related Keywords for that keyword, so you can chain your exploration), and Copy to clipboard. A + button next to each keyword lets you quickly add it to your tracked list.
- Popularity — A score from 0 to 100 indicating how often users search for this keyword. Higher means more search volume. Displayed as a visual bar.
- Competitiveness — A score from 1 to 100 showing how hard it would be to rank for this keyword. Higher means more competition. Also displayed as a visual bar.
Search Results
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 — App icons of the top 5 organically ranked apps for this keyword. This lets you quickly see who currently owns the top spots.
- ... — Click "View →" to see the full search results for this keyword.
- Total — The total number of apps that appear in search results for this keyword.
Actions
Track Keywords
There are two ways to track keywords from this report:
- + button — Click the + icon next to any individual keyword to add it to your tracked list immediately.
- Track selected keywords — Select multiple keywords using the checkboxes on the left, then click Track selected keywords to add them all at once.
Export
The Export button gives you several options:
- Download Table — Download the full table as a CSV or JSON file.
- Copy Keywords To Clipboard — Copy just the keywords, either with newlines (one per line) or commas (separated by commas).
What You Can Do With It
- Expand your keyword strategy from a single seed — Start with one keyword and discover dozens of related terms you hadn't considered. Each related keyword can be clicked to find even more related terms, letting you chain your exploration.
- Find low-competition alternatives — If your target keyword is too competitive, use Related Keywords to find similar terms with lower competitiveness but solid popularity.
- Research a competitor's keyword neighborhood — Search for a keyword your competitor is known for and see what other terms are associated with it. This reveals their broader keyword strategy.
- Discover long-tail variations — Related keywords often include longer, more specific phrases that can be easier to rank for and highly relevant to your app.
- Explore new markets — Change the country and use Translate to discover related keywords in markets you're considering expanding into.
- Build comprehensive keyword lists — Combine Related Keywords with Suggested Keywords for maximum coverage — one starts from a keyword, the other from an app.
