Ranked Keywords

Want to know every keyword your app ranks for in the App Store? The Ranked Keywords report shows you exactly that — every search keyword where your app appears in the organic results, across all the keywords tracked in our system.

This gives you a complete picture of your app's search visibility. You can see where you rank, how your ranks are changing, and how popular and competitive each keyword is. It's the go-to report for understanding your organic footprint in the App Store.

The app you're analyzing must be tracked in your Appfigures account — either through a linked account or as a competitor (basic or premium tracking).

Available on: Monitor, Optimize, Boost, Grow, and Explore plans. Upgrade →

Getting Started

To get to the report, go to Store Visibility → Ranked Keywords in the left sidebar.

The report requires one app selected. Here are the controls you'll use to set it up:

  • App — Select the app you want to analyze. The app must be tracked in your account, either through a linked account or added as a competitor (basic or premium).
  • Country — Choose a country to see keyword rankings for that market. Rankings vary significantly by country.
  • Device — Toggle between iPhone and iPad. Search results differ between devices, so your app may rank differently on each.

Once configured, the report loads a table showing every keyword where your app appears in the organic search results. A summary line above the table shows how many total keywords the app is ranked in (e.g., "Ranked in 13,989 keywords").

Data in this report is delayed by 24 hours. For real-time keyword data, use Keyword Inspector or Keyword Performance.

Filters

Above the table, several filters let you narrow down the results:

  • Type — Filter by tracking status. Options: Keywords I track (keywords you're already tracking in your account) and Keywords I don't track (keywords you're ranking for but haven't added to your tracked list yet — great for discovering new keywords to monitor).
  • Rank — Filter by position range to focus on keywords where you rank within a specific range (e.g., top 10, top 50).
  • Popularity — Filter by popularity score range to focus on high-traffic or low-traffic keywords.
  • Competitiveness — Filter by competitiveness score range to find keywords that are easier or harder to rank for.

Use the search bar in the table header to filter keywords by name.

Translate

The Translate feature lets you translate all keywords in the table into any language. This is especially useful when analyzing rankings in foreign markets — you can see exactly what each keyword means without leaving the report.

Column Reference

The table is organized into three sections: Search Rank, Keyword Insights, and Search Results.

Search Rank

  • Keyword — The keyword your app ranks for. Each keyword is shown with its country flag. Click any keyword to open it in Keyword Inspector for deeper analysis.
  • Position — Your app's current organic rank for this keyword. Position 1 means you're the top result.
  • Delta — How much your position has changed since the last update. A green up arrow means your rank improved (moved closer to #1), a red down arrow means it dropped. This reflects the last change, which could be from the most recent update cycle.

Keyword Insights

  • Popularity — A score from 0 to 100 indicating how often users search for this keyword in the App Store. Higher means more search volume.
  • Competitiveness — A score from 1 to 100 showing how hard it would be to rank for this keyword. Higher means more competition.

Search Results

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 — Visual previews (app icons) of the top 5 organically ranked apps for this keyword. This lets you quickly see who you're competing with.
  • ... — Click "View →" to see the full search results for this keyword.
  • Total — The total number of apps that appear in search results for this keyword.

Actions

Track Selected Keywords

Select keywords using the checkboxes on the left, then click Track selected keywords to add them to your tracked keyword list. This is especially useful after filtering by "Keywords I don't track" — you can discover keywords you're ranking for and start monitoring them with one click.

View Apple Ads Keywords

The View Apple Ads keywords → link at the top of the table takes you to the Competitor Paid Keywords report for the same app, so you can compare organic rankings with paid keyword strategies.

Export

The Export button lets you download the data as:

  • CSV — Download the full table as a CSV file.
  • JSON — Download the full table as a JSON file.

What You Can Do With It

  • Discover keywords you didn't know you ranked for — With thousands of tracked keywords in the system, your app likely ranks for terms you've never considered. Use the "Keywords I don't track" filter to find them.
  • Monitor rank changes — The Delta column shows where your ranks are improving or declining, so you can react quickly to drops.
  • Find high-value untracked keywords — Filter by "Keywords I don't track" and sort by Popularity to find popular keywords you're ranking for but not monitoring. Add them to your tracked list to keep an eye on them.
  • Assess your competitive landscape — The Search Results columns show who else ranks for the same keywords. Seeing the top 5 apps for each keyword helps you understand your competition at a glance.
  • Identify optimization opportunities — Look for keywords where you rank just outside the top 10 (positions 11-20) with high Popularity. A small improvement in rank on these keywords could drive significant new downloads.
  • Research international markets — Change the country filter to see how your app ranks in different markets. Use Translate to understand foreign-language keywords.

💡 Ariel's Top Tip

🔍 Set the Type filter to "Keywords I don't track" and sort by Popularity. You'll probably find keywords you didn't even know your app ranked for — and some of them will have high search volume. Add the best ones to your tracked list so you can monitor changes and optimize for them intentionally.
